By using Homi, you agree to the terms described below. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address, password, school name, and graduation year.
Profile Information: You may provide details such as name, phone number, gender, bio, hobbies, profile photos, and roommate preferences (e.g., sleep schedule, cleanliness, noise tolerance, guests, etc.).
Messages and Interactions: When you chat or interact with other users, we store your messages and related metadata to facilitate communication and moderation.
Support Requests: If you contact us for help, we may collect your name, contact details, and message content.
b. Automatically Collected Information
Usage Data: Includes interactions within the app (e.g., profile views, swipes, matches, or crashes) to improve performance and detect bugs.
Device Information: Such as device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and app version.
Analytics Data: We use Firebase Analytics and related tools to gather anonymous usage metrics.
c. Optional Information
Photos, location (if you choose to share it), and any other content you voluntarily upload.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide and maintain the Homi platform and its features (matching, messaging, filtering, etc.)
Personalize your experience and suggest compatible roommates
Monitor and improve the safety and performance of the App
Communicate with you regarding updates, support, or policy changes
Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
Analyze trends to improve features and user experience
3. Legal Basis for Processing (for users in the EEA/UK)
If applicable, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
Consent: You voluntarily provide data to use the App.
Contract: Processing is necessary to provide the roommate-matching service.
Legitimate Interests: To maintain and improve Homi’s platform.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal data to advertisers or third parties.

With Service Providers: Trusted partners like Firebase (Google LLC) for hosting, analytics, and authentication.

All third-party partners are bound by strict confidentiality and data-protection agreements.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption and secure servers through Firebase to protect your data.
Access to your personal information is restricted to authorized personnel who require it to operate the service.
While we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide services.
If you delete your account, your personal data and chat messages will be permanently deleted from our systems within a reasonable time frame (typically 30 days), unless required by law to retain it longer.

Request correction or deletion of your data
Withdraw consent to processing at any time

8. Children’s Privacy
Homi is intended for college students aged 17 and older.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17.
If we discover that we’ve inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately.
9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Homi itself does not use browser cookies, but similar identifiers may be used through Firebase or analytics services to understand app usage patterns.
These tools collect anonymous data only and cannot personally identify you.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.
When we make significant changes, we’ll update the “Effective Date” and notify users through the App or email.
