Why This App Exists

I built Homi because I had a frustrating roommate finding experience my freshman year of college.

Like most students, I turned to Instagram pages, Facebook groups, and the handful of roommate apps out there… but none of them worked. They were either outdated, filled with inactive users, or only let me see the most basic info — name, major, maybe a short bio if I was lucky. But that’s not how real roommate compatibility works.

I wanted to know what time people go to bed. If they’re clean or messy. If they party. If they’re loud, introverted, into sports, smoke, drink, bring friends over — things that actually matter when you’re sharing a room the size of a closet.

Homi is a roommate matching app that feels more like meeting someone in real life — quick, personal, and intuitive. It lets students build a profile that reflects how they live, not just who they are on paper. You can filter for what matters to you and connect with people you actually vibe with.

But Homi is about more than just roommates. It’s about making move-in less stressful. It’s about helping students feel more confident going into college. And it’s about building a community where finding “your people” is easier — one match at a time.
